Onjenu - I love you!

I truly believe that when shopping for an item of clothing the 'thunderbolt' love crush should happen. I say to my clients - do you love it? do you feel great in it? If so, buy it. If not, walk away.

This happened to me a week or so ago. Whilst in Bath I walked into the very gorgeous Sisi&May boutique and standing on the manequin was this dress. "I LOVE THAT!" I said very loudly in the very quiet glamorous setting.

There was something about it that hit a memory. A warm homely feeling of my past and childhood. The fabric, colours were just like fabric we had at home in the 70's. My quick with graphics brother took one look at the dress and spotted the artist immediately  - 'Its this' he said. Mum had curtains with it. That's why I got that warm feeling of home.

The designer is german textile weaving artist - Gunta Stolz  Here is her original weave...just the most incredible weave of fabrics and shapes created around 1930.

And below is the fabric mum had at home which I'm guessing was a more modern copy of Gunta's (which I believe Habitat took on in the 70's)

So, I'm overcome with emotions, not just because the dress is so gorgeous but it has evoked so many memories. Obviously, I tried it on, it fitted like a glove and it came home with me to be part of my life.

The label is Onjenu London - their passion is to create easy, high colour, high print pieces. They have jumpsuits, dresses, tunics in an amazement of bold shades. All our individual and nothing like I've seen before, Once you've found your print and your shape, the garment will be your 'throw it on' dress for all occasions.

This dress is called The Lauren - I love the shape. The swing skirt, the ruffled waistband and polo neck. The covered sleeves and the POCKETS!!  Its the perfect dress to dress up or dress down. In the pictures, I've styled with bronze ankle boots from TopShop and my vintage mustard hat from New York. I also threw on my red biker jacket too. Perfect for a birthday family lunch in Bath.

70's here we go! take a look at Onjenu and pick a perfect print dress or jumpsuit for you and as they say live life in colour.
