Crazy old Christmas. You're buying stuff every day, cards, treats for the kids, lego, boxes of fizz, it feels slightly out of control and whats more, your in and out of shops and online more than you've been all year. There is this feeling of wanting to buy for yourself (I still don't know what I'm wearing to the drinks party on Friday - I know what I want that gold embellished jumper from Anthropologie at £128 !) but because that credit card is being over used, you feel a sense of guilt The main reason is because everything you want right now is gold, sparkly, blingy and clingy and lets be honest will only work for one party..So it got me thinking - what 9 things could I buy under £90 that I can wear this Christmas season, but also all year.
Hope it gives you some inspiration ...go on treat yourself to one special thing.
1. Statement jacket , M&S £39 - Let your black velvet trousers, last years jumpsuit or classic LBD come alive with this bomber thrown over the top. Add bold bronze earrings or put a slinky camisole underneath. Its the perfect party cover up until you've enough cocktails to throw it on the dance floor.
2017 - Wear it with a polo neck under neath and throw on with denim and trainers as it gets milder.
2. Faux Leather Culottes Great Plains £75 You've got your culottes, you've got your pleather but have you considered faux leather culottes? Edge up your old sparkly knitwear or a blouse with these black shiny beauties. Add some killer heels (lace socks if you dare) and you're edgy cool at the party.
2017 - On a rainy February day play these down with a Breton stripe and white trainers..you could even work some faux leather in the office with a white shirt, blazer and loafer.
Bronze boots Kurt Keiger £59 (sale) These bronze low heeled boots will update your skinny jeans on boxing day. Work with creams, khaki blacks and warm floral shirts. Its your understated casual for hanging out with friends down the pub or on a day out with the kids.
2017 - Ok, I know they are bronze but metallics won't date next year. Imagine these worn with bared legs in the spring with a floaty floral dress..or faded denim and floaty boho top.
Classic Silk Shirt from & Other Stories £65. Red is big every Christmas and top to toe red is even bigger this year. These would look super smart with a printed skirt, under velvet dungarees or thrown on in the evening with under a diamonte necklace. Its your 'go to' shirt this season.
2017 - Silk is so warm and easy to layer under knitwear and added with denim this will take you through to springtime. I'd clash it with the pink jumper below.
Printed Shirt Dress Zara £49.99 - This multi shirt dress will so comfortable for Christmas day worn with bold statement red boots & belted..loosen up the more you eat.
2017 - layer a thin ribbed polo neck underneath in the colder months and wear open as a shirt coat over jeans in the spring with white sandals.
