Katie and I met at my Style Clinic in Salisbury. Katie owns Memory Opticians in central Salisbury and Amesbury. An independent, boutique style, high end opticians that delivers style and specs.
It was clear right from the start of meeting Katie that she is an image conscious individual and that teamed with her dedicated attitude to style within her business, she was keen to learn to be more creative and self assured with her own personal style. She fronts her business and requires to look the part.
Katie is a great advert for a women just over 50. Exercise is part of her life, as is meditation and with her artist husband they enjoy shopping together.
Katies wardrobe is incredibly tidy, well organised and colour co-ordinated. The photo below is her spring/summer wardrobe (discounting her holiday clothes). It’s a tonal, neutral wardrobe consisting of mainly cream, grey, navy, with an injection of artistic print (encouraged by Martin - he has a great eye).
But Katie felt lost, unsure, bored of what purpose these garments had and how they should be worn.
Although a good shopper and most of the clothes high end and designer, Katie wasn’t really independently making use of all it all.
In fact, we had planned a personal shop in the afternoon to create a bespoke wardrobe for Katie.
We didn't need to shop.
After working through each garment, I created 64 outfits of a capsule wardrobe she didn’t understand.

46 outfits, no wish list, just fabulous confident self assured outfits.
I was very excited about how beautifully Katie’s clothes worked together. This often happens with clients. They shop well, as they have a rooted (subconscious) understanding of why they buy a garment.
They are just are not sure how to make the garment work as an outfit.
Thats my job.
To turn the unknown, into something they own.
Katie looks incredible in neutral beige tones, creams and greys. She can also wear warm colours. Her hair has changed from a brunette to a warm blonde so a few cooler bright colours were edited out.
I was taken by how fabulous she looked in neutrals. As an individual who talks about bright colours, it is exciting to be able to share my work styling with mainly neutral colours.
Mixing layers and textures together to create an overall interesting composition of clothes that just look so comfortable on Katie.
Composition wise. Katie tends to wear skinny jeans, heels and fitted straight style dresses.
She looks fabulous in these styles, but we’ve developed her style a bit. Wearing a wide leg trouser and pleated print skirt gives Katie’s style a modern twist.
Katie now feels 100% self assured with her outfits. She has received all the outfits digitally in folders and as a wall hanger in her wardrobe. I spoke to her today.
She is still happy and like all my clients, she refers to these pictures daily..
