Fantastic Frome
Truly Sopel
Had a ‘truly’ exciting day on in Frome. Only 20 minutes from Castle Cary but felt like a world away. The cobbled street of St Catherines Hill not only look beautiful in the warm sun shine but the variety of vintage shops and unique boutiques got my heart racing.
1st stop was Truly Sopel or should we say truly truly scrumptious! Yes that really is her name and there amongst the pretty shop Truly sits, creates and sews fantastic vintage inspired clothing in her cute shop on the hill. Fantastic lacey creations, dinky delicate skirts and bold print coats – all original to Truly and handmade by her. It’s a piece of Portobello brought to Frome, thank you, thank you Truly. It’s quirky, edgy, pretty and brilliantly unique. Also inspiring and super sexy are her new range of knickers and underwear – check out the website. I fancy buying some just to do my ironing in the garden!
I’ll be back to buy and would recommend to anyone who fancies some style away from the high street.
Deadly is the Female
‘More is more’ is quote from Claudia that I will hold on to forever. When you enter her swanky shop it oozes super sex appeal from the eras of 1920’s, 30’s, 40’s & 50’s. This shop will make any women, large or small feel like jumping up and down and celebrating themselves and their curves. There’s sure to be a vintage inspired dress to suit all types and ages and brilliantly she sells knickers, corsets, petticoats, high heels make-up and accessories to enhance the look even more. Added to the ambience is her cute little doggy that sits on the chair amongst the stiletto's.
I came away with a fantastic flirty floral 50’s dress (Trixie dress in Olivine Flowers - £95) and added a contrasting red full petticoat which sits underneath the circular skirt of the dress (£50). With 3 little girls in the house, I felt this petticoat was an investment for years to come. When it’s on I feel like I could do ‘Come Dancing’ or be in a 1950’s film – just gorgeous. I wore the dress to a Charity party on Saturday night (a marquee event and believe me it got noticed) I’m also working this dress for Verity’s christening, which I’ve, themed as a vintage inspired tea party!
I can see me wearing this number for years to come, shopping with the girls, garden parties with sexy heels but also over my skinny jeans and flip flops. Thank you Claudia. I’ll definitely be back for more and more.
Fromes Big Swish Event - 20th May 2011
Wow! what a great night out at the interesting venue of Rook Lane Chapel for a clothes swapping night. Only £5 which went to Charity. Took 5 items, gained 11 points. Drank wine and purused the rails of clothes. I had my eye on a pale blue leather cropped jacket with ruffle sleeves. After a great raffle, the whistle went and we were off to grab our clothes!! there was a little pushing and nudging but brilliantly nobody wanted my jacket and I bagged it, together with a great buttoned up denim dress.
Thanks Truly Sopel and her team for organising a fab night. I think I'll have to do the same in Castle Cary very soon.
