How to look good in the rain

This ones a wet one. Before you complain - here’s a few tips on how to look good in the rain.

1. A funky raincoat

I’m not talking your dog walking gortex. I’m talking a long waterproof coat with good covering. A favourite of mine is a camouflage parka (old TopShop) - it works on denim, looks great over printed midi dresses. Keep you dry but also funky too. If printed not your thing, go for your best neutral.

2. Some AMAZING wellies.

My favourite wellies are cowboy style Talolo Boots - I’ve rocked these at Glastonbury ALL DAY and NIGHT but also worn to Bath shopping. Go for ankle mock croc for stylish city or bonkers prints for festival fun. If a heeled wellie is not your thing try a cropped Barbour boot Kettlewell Colours new cropped wellies in four gorgeous colours!

3. A hat

Your stylish hands free umbrella that keeps your hair dry. I’m a big fan of a felt hat - this keeps my head dry. If you are ever in Bridport, visit T.Snook hat shop (I bought a fabulous red fedora last winter) or if a wide brim isn’t your thing go for a waterproof bucket hat or a baseball cap.

Brown felt fedora is my wet weather essential item.

4. Go large on earrings and accessories

Just because it is wet this doesn’t mean you can’t wear your jewellery. I loved the picture of Viv Groskop this week on instagram, In Scotland rocking her anorak and big earring in rain! Go for metal or plastic, probably best to avoid a fabric tassel but go large and have fun!

5. Wear the sunshine!

There is nothing more fabulous than wearing bold bright colours on a dark day. Not only will it give you energy, it will bring you joy. Choose a hue that best suits your skin tone. Spring daffodil yellow, rich mustards, cool neon yellow or soft pastel lemons.

9. A terrific Trench

I love a trench for a slick city look. I sometimes just throw over my jeans and suddenly feel stylish. Be brave and go bold in a bright or keep it classic with a camel. Keep the outfit simple and let the trench doing the talking.

10: Dresses and bare legs

Soggy days do not mean you have to leave your dresses behind. Go for a printed midi to style out with your wellies and rain coat. A vintage printed style works best in a mid length or wear a mini with wellies or big boots. Don’t be afraid to get your legs out in the rain this summer.

Remember to get out and enjoy yourself whatever the weather as after sunshine comes a rainbow! xxxx
