One knit wonder

My recent wardrobe edit was a major knit cull. Bobbly jumpers hung there, unfit for purpose so I had great pleasure removing, washing and taking to the local charity shop.

When I look at my knits now, I see colour, mainly fine knit cashmere from M&S, great for layering but nothing exciting in shape.

My commercial fashion shoot last week, I styled my models in supremely simple knits. The outfits were luxurious, simple, soft and warm.

No fuss.

This season, brands are really upping their game producing some fabulous knitwear that frankly speak for themselves.

Wearing a jumper + trouser or a jumper + jeans can often feel dull. A standard crew neck jumper needs effort to look stylish. I inspire clients to layer a blouse underneath to add some interest and texture.

But these beauties below speak for themselves.

Some with zips, some with collars, some with a flattering v.

A one knit wonder.

This is a beauty from Whistles.

A feminine twist on an arran jumper. I love the frill, the zip. Wear high for drama, zip low for a glamorous lunch out.

I’m not a fan of grey, but his V collared style will offer style solutions in your wardrobe. Style alone with simple silver jewellery, layer over a classic shirt or jumpsuit as below. Keep the look two tones for sophistication.

Yes please for this breton. Effortless weekend style with jeans but style with leather trousers and loafers too. Very Parisian from Jigsaw.

This is that jumper to throw on for Sunday lunch with friends. I adore this sky blue, but it also comes in cream. Nice one Boden.

Kitri have some incredible knits. I’m blown away by the colour combinations. I’d style this with red wide length trousers or my bubblegum pink suit and trainers. Zip up when its cold, zip down for a bit of sass.

& Other Stories produce an abundance or feminine cut knitwear. This is super cute.

Ok, not made of wool ZARA, but a great price for an amazing injection of colour - it also has side slits which are a win win for me.

Stunningly simple in a beautiful purple. Massimo Dutti - great value knitwear that looks expensive.

I adore this look. An example of how a zip knit can work for work. Top marks Cos.

Feeling inspired?

These are my models from last weeks shoot.

All in luxury simple. knits. A sky blue roll neck for Nick, a grey zip cashmere jumper looks fresh styled over a white t-shirt for Oliver & Triinu looks effortless to travel in creams, camel and pop off orange.
