WINTER COATS

It is coat season so I thought I’d share some coats I wear. Start thinking about the contrast of coats you may or not have in your wardrobe. The more variety, more choice you have to suit a variety of daily styles. Buy the best you can but have fun with vintage, secondhand and low cost versions too.

The Puffa

I don’t think I could live without mine. I like a hooded puffa so I can really wrap up. I was lucky to find a reversible one in a boutique in Castle Cary a few years ago. I prefer a long puffa as it can cover my entire body and outfit ( if I am quite dressy it protects and hides my work outfit on the dog walk in the afternoon - I’ve hidden my silver trousers under this one!).

The Trench

I love a dark Trench coat in the winter. Mine was a vintage M&S one. On damp cooler days I style over a wool blazer so I keep warm and dry. I love this wax trench by Mint Velvet and this black wax parka at Sainsburys Tu is also amazing.

The bold number

There is nothing like a bold bright coat to cheer a dark winters day. I love a pop of pink over something quite casual. If pink isn’t your colour red is very popular this season. Don’t leave a coat like this for best. Wear it and enjoy over denim and corduroy.

The winter blazer

I love a blazer but find all my colourful summer blazers are too chilly to wear. In the winter buy a blazer with wool content. You can style on it’s own with knitwear or under a long trench. Style your bright summer blazers under your coats (they look more stylish than a cardigan!)

The wrap

There is nothing like a long wool wrap coat for smart sophistication and warmth. Perfect to travel in, city days out, weekend away. Style with trousers but also long dresses and skirt work brilliantly too.

The Furry

Fun and ridiculous. Perfect for a cold winters day. I picked this crazy one up in Portobello market on a hot sunny day! I felt ridiculous walking around with it but I love it for festivals, Christmas market shopping days and over an evening outfit.

The check

More useful than you think. A print that layers over a casual outfit. Great for a city day out, over a work suit and a long evening dress. For something more casual try this check one from. White Stuff.

Hope that is a little insight - take a look at your coats and work out what may be missing.

Trawl charity shops, sales, vintage sellers too! and even the supermarket shopping aisle (mum found my leopard coat in Tescos!) and Rita would never wear a quiet coloured coat ever!

Let me know if you need some help.

Natasha xx
